Remedial and Sports Therapy

The aim of remedial and sports therapy is prevention of injury and rehabilitation post injury to restore function, fitness and ability to carry out day to day activities.

Sports massage applies deep tissue remedial techniques to loosen tight muscles, lengthen shortened muscles, correct postural imbalances and promote recovery from training or from injury. Regular treatment to maintain optimal muscle health can also prevent injuries.

For those who regularly participate in sports or train at the gym sports massage can be beneficial to ensure that muscles and joints are moving freely, stiffness is eliminated and any early tissue damage repaired. For non athletes, the benefits of massage are also applicable – physical, psychological and physiological benefits can be felt:  pain can be reduced, range of movement increased, posture corrected, mood enhanced.

Regular massage therapy can reduce injuries, treat injured muscles and restore movement to affected joints, performance can be improved in training and competition, and recovery can be enhanced.

Sports massage can be used before events to prepare muscles for the exertions ahead, post event to promote recovery, as maintenance therapy to maximise benefits from training and also for rehabilitation post injury.
